It’s one thing to hear his or her voice, but to see a face and a smile makes a world of a difference. Reviving a PowerBook G4 with Ubuntu 9.04 PPC

I had purchased a used PowerBook G4 a while back on eBay. I initially installed Mac OS 10.3 Panther, since I have a spare lincense. The machine ran quite well with OS 10.3; however, I kept running into the problem of feeling uninspired to use my PowerBook because of the 20″ iMac with OS 10.5 Leopard installed sitting on my desk. Why would I use the old OS when I have the newer one, and not only that, but on much better hardware? Faced with the dilemma of whether or not to sell my PowerBook, I came across a little treasure that gave me something for this laptop: inspiration*.

First Look: Nexuiz 2.5 – Impressive

Nexuiz is a 3D, fast-paced, first person shooter (FPS) game for the computer. It is based on the Darkplaces engine, which is a well modified version of the Quake 1 engine. Nexuiz has been in development for nearly seven years (at the time of this writing). I have played Nexuix for only 3-4 years. Within that short span of years of playing the game, I have seen some amazing progress made to this fun and exciting game.

Review: Amazon Kindle for iPhone (and iPod Touch)

When Amazon.com released the first Kindle, I was quite impressed with it, but only under the hood. It wasn’t much to look at. Then, Amazon.com released the Kindle 2 and not only did it improve under the hood, but it looked way better. This, of course, made me want one. However, the price and owning yet another gadget held me back. Enter the Kindle app for iPhone and iPod Touch.

Update: Xubuntu 8.10 Works on the EEE PC

It’s finally here and on my EEE PC. Xubuntu 8.10 is sitting hapily on my EEE PC’s internal 2GB SSD hard drive. I have patiently waited for the day that I could remove the uninspiring version of Linux that defaults on the Asus EEE PC.
