Now that you’ve got your brand new iPod Touch (or have recently updated it), it’s time to download and install some applications to utilize your iPod Touch to the fullest. You can do this in one of two ways: from your iPod Touch or from the iTunes App Store.
The first method will cover downloading applications from your iPod Touch. You will need to be connected to the Internet via wireless network.
- Tap the App Store icon on your iPod Touch home screen
- Browse or search for your desired application (browsing controls are at the bottom of the screen)
- When you find the desired application, tap it and you will be taken to that app’s information page
- To purchase/download the app, tap the price or the word “free” at the top of the description (the button will change to either “buy now” or “install”)
- Tap the button again (after it changes to the color of green)
- Type in your iTunes account password, if prompted and confirm the download
Now, the app’s icon will appear on your home screen with indication that it is downloading. After the app is downloaded, you are ready to use it.
The second method for downloading and installing applications on your iPod Touch involves using your iTunes installation on your Mac or PC.
- Open iTunes
- Connect your iPod Touch to your computer
- Go to the iTunes Store in iTunes
- On the menu on the left, click “App Store”
- Browse or search for your desired application
- Click on the application to go to its information page
- Click on “get app” or “buy app” (you may be warned about 1-Click purchasing; just tell it you want to buy the app)
- Once the app is downloaded, you will need to sync your iPod Touch to install the app
After you sync your iPod Touch, the application will appear on your iPod Touch’s home screen, ready for use.
It’s that simple.
