Tip: Use Google Voice as Digital Sticky Notes

29 10 2009

In the past, I have had to make ample use of sticky notes, or Post-it® notes. I have gone through a host of sticky note pads, reminding myself of innumerable events or things I needed to do. I simply cannot imagine the amount of paper I have thrown away to the garbage with the use of sticky notes. In this current digital age, there is a movement to go as paperless as possible and do everything in the “cloud.” Now I can eliminate all that waste by using a free service provided by Google called, Google Voice.

Why Should I Read the Bible? (John 1:1)

19 10 2009

The Bible is certainly a book that has drawn a lot of attention to itself, whether good or bad. It is a controversial book in the eyes of those who do not understand it. But to the children of God, it is not only truth, but it is the source of spiritual food and theological authority. There are several reasons why every Christian must read the Bible regularly without fail. The first and foremost reason can be found in John 1:1.

Book Pick: The Jedi Academy Trilogy (Star Wars)

30 09 2009

It’s been a long time since I’ve written about any Star Wars books. I took a small break from reading Star Wars for a while, but now I’ve decided to get back to the enjoyment of sitting down to good Star Wars books. In this pick, I’m going to recommend The Jedi Academy Trilogy, written by Kevin J. Anderson. The trilogy consists of the following books: Jedi Search, Dark Apprentice, and Champions of the Force.

Therefore Pray After This Manner (Matthew 6:9-13)

23 09 2009

Prayer is the effectual means by which a Christian communicates with God. Through prayer, Christians make supplications, give praise, worship, and give thanks to the Heavenly Father. Prayer is as simple as speaking in your everyday language, yet there are people who find it difficult to formulate a prayer or even feel as if they don’t know how to pray. Jesus gave the perfect guide to prayer in what is known as, “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Mac OS X Snow Leopard: The Upgrade

6 09 2009

When the announcement was made, I jumped all over it. I was a kid in my own kind of candy store. Apple’s OS X Snow Leopard was to be released ahead of schedule and available for pre-order, for only $29 on Amazon.com. Of course, I shelled out the cash and reserved my copy. Days later, Amazon.com lowered the price to $25, which lowered the cost I had to pay. That was more fuel for the excitement. Finally, September 3 rolls around and Snow Leopard shows up neatly packed in a large envelope. The installation soon began.

Tip: Wi-fi Only Data Access on a Smartphone

26 08 2009

I like the idea of a smartphone, but I don’t like the idea of a highly overpriced data plan with sub-par access speeds. At the time of this writing, it would cost me an extra $25 per month to gain access to an EDGE data plan (3G is not available in my area). On top of that, my carrier “claims” that I must have a data plan in order to use a smartphone, such as my G1. Well, I have no data plan, and I’m happily using my G1 without a data plan, despite the claims of my carrier.
